Montreux Riviera Card :

This card gives you FREE BUS Montreux and Vevey. You can take with it the little train that goes from Montreux to Caux for free. It also gives you discounts to some museums. Website. You have to ask for this card in the Center or in the hotel where you spend the night.

Car :

There are no ecological restrictions for cars in Switzerland.

This tax is mandatory before you enter Switzerland by car:  Vignette

You better rent a car in France, Germany, Italy because car rental is very expensive in Switzerland…

 

Train:

Train is very expensive in Switzerland. CFF.CH

(Caution: some mountain trains, cabelcar, gondola and yellow bus are not included)

Airport:

Geneva Airport is 2h from Caux by train and cost 35 chf one way.

Basel Airport is 3h30 from Caux by train and cost 80 chf one way.

​

Basel airport is next to France and it would be smart to rent a car there on the French side because it’s much cheaper.

Zürich Airport is 4h from Caux by train and cost 80 chf one way.

Other/alternatives:

Blablacar is an online sharing platform cheaper than train but not on a regular service. The date oft he trip is important in researching. Cars may post proposal only days before travelling.  

 

For inter-European travelling Eurolines may be interesting and has a terminal in Geneva.
